2009 Tricks R4 Chicks presented by Rugged Riders and Jump Camp
TRICKS R4 CHICKS GET BURIED IN FLUFFY WHITE STUFF!
On March 15th 2009 the third annual TRICKS R4 CHICKS ended with an epic ride down the quiet mountain road of the Forbidden Plateau in Courtenay, BC. The rugged experience was welcomed by JumpCamp and their sledding crew for an all-girls weekend of powderlicious, jibalicious, yogarific progression and fun!
We were able to shred at an old ski resort that shut down in 1999. The girls thought it was kind of spooky with the old chairlifts and rubble where the lodge used to be.
Saturday, the camp kicked off with a shred session in the rail garden where the girls increased their skills on natural log rails.
We went for an exploration shred starting at the peak of the mountain, where we found a sweet natural quarter pipe which we then sessioned til the day was almost over.
After the gourmet lunch with Vega energy bars and yummy salads, the coaches taught the girls how to build a backcountry booter by building a step-up jump over the quarterpipe. The evening ended in our warm lodge where we ate healthy, yummy food, watched the footage from the day and practiced yoga.
Sunday morning the girls stretched with a yoga class dedicated to breathing and goal-setting and enjoyed Hemp Bliss and Hemp Protein smoothies. We were all extra stoked to wake up to 60cm of fresh snow on the mountain!!
The morning was filled with powder landings off the step-up jump and plenty of high fives. After the girls hit the step-up, we went into a secret warming cabin, dried out, ate gourmet sandwiches and salad and watched the snow continue to fall.
Since mother nature kept spreading her white fluffy love all over the mountain, the girls decided to shred pow lines the rest of the day. The Jump Camp crew tripled and towed the girls back up the hill on their sleds all day. They showed the girls some sweet cliff drops and tree runs. FRESHIES all day long!
Both days of Tricks R4 Chicks were just plain awesome!! All the girls progressed and gained confidence in the park, on a sled, and in powder. They all learned new tricks with the Rugged Riders coaching crew!
The girls were all given AWESOME goodies thanks to our sponsors: Livity Outernational, Roxy, United Riders, Nibz, Les Ettes, Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods and Oils, Ocean Minded, and Vega.
