Women Specific Demo Day

I found this on the SBC Snowboard Womens website the other day so I thought I would share it. It’s on January 17, 2009 @ Mt. St. Louis. Here is more info takin straight from their site:

If you’ve ever been snowboarding you know it is a sport that just latches on to you. You don’t know what it is, but as soon as you leave the hill, you can’t wait to get back on it. In my opinion, this is a feeling not brought on by how well you ride, the cool gear under your feet or the money that it took to get you onto the hill. It is that exhilarating feeling you get when you make your first turn, bail on your first jump, make your first rail, or even when its your 50th time out this season.

This event was created around the idea that opportunities in the snowboard world should not only be for those swimming in wealth, although I am sure most of us wouldn’t hesitate to take the place of someone in that position. The purpose of this event is to bring out a number of companies all together, without preference, and let the public ride their equipment for free. For security purposes, a credit card and valid photo ID is required by you or your guardian, if you are under 18, but there is absolutely no charge.

In the snowboard world, this is usually called a demo day. Not only is it unique in bringing together different companies all under the same tent, but it is also women-specific. Although the women’s side of snowboarding is growing faster than most can keep up with, a lot of demo days are still lacking in product designed for women. Therefore, not only will you get a chance to ride a number of boards from various companies but all of the decks will be women-specific.

Give yourself a chance to take your own advice. Not that there is anything wrong with listening to someone more experienced like your brother, your guy friends, or your boyfriend, but wouldn’t it be nice to know what boards you like to ride, because you were the one to actually try them out?

This is not a huge corporate event. It was an idea thought up by a girl stoked on riding and wanting more for herself and the girls around her in the snowboarding world. So come out and feel free to try any of the boards for a couple runs each. No hassles, just riding without judgment or regret.
